This is another of the measures that we understand companies should put in place. The nature of everyday operations means that companies cannot focus on each and every aspect of their business, but an analysis of the claims made may reveal patterns and/or circumstances that are repeated over time with a view to adopting preventive measures.
Take the case of a supermarket chain, for example; if several customers suffer falls during the year while staff are carrying out their cleaning duties, then measures will need to be taken to mitigate/reduce the risk of these accidents.
If it is therefore noted that this is a recurring event in the supermarket chain, instructions can be issued to the managers of each store to ensure that when staff carry out cleaning tasks they dry the floor immediately after it has been mopped, while at the same time putting up signs warning of the danger of a wet floor, etc.
